What the speed and load codes mean
Most tyres have codes on them that inform you of their maximum load and speed characteristics. It’s important to understand what they mean in order to choose the right tyres for your vehicle. For example, a tyre might have the code 91V on it. This is what it means:
The number corresponds to the tyre’s maximum load capacity - in this case, 615kg. This maximum load is per tyre.
The letter tells you the tyre’s speed rating. V indicates a speed rating of 240kph (approximately 149mph)
